The Two-Minute Self-Hypnosis Technique

The Two-Minute Self-Hypnosis Technique

By Colin G. Smith
Creator of The NLP Toolbox

Psychologists and Doctors used to send their 'impossible' clients to him and in many instances he helped them to turn their lives around. Milton H. Erickson was one of the most successful hypnotherapists in the world and is often referred to as 'the father of modern hypnosis.'
One of the factors that set him apart from other change workers was his strong faith in the vast potential of human beings. He knew that when a person stopped stumbling around with their conscious mind and tapped into the limitless ocean of unconscious resources, people could make wonderful changes.
He used to look at a client and say something like, 'You've tried to solve this problem with your conscious mind and failed utterly. Now is the time to access your unconscious resources in a way that resolves this problem effectively.'
Now you may be wondering just how can you really induce self hypnosis in two minutes!?
Well, one of the common misconceptions about hypnosis is that you have to be able to concentrate and go into a profoundly altered state. This could be done, however what we are really interested in is accessing other areas of our mind (i.e. unconscious resources) so that we can make certain changes giving rise to our chosen outcome.
The good news is you can do this very easily and you can give it a go now with the following techniques. No need for deep trance!
Three Magic Doors
This is a classic hypnotherapy technique. I think you'll be surprised and intrigued at what your unconscious mind conjures up.
Think of a small problem you want to change. For example perhaps there is someone you would like to get along with better
Imagine there are three closed doors in front of you: Door one is labelled, 'usual way', door two is labelled, 'another person's way' and door three is labelled, 'wacky way!'
In a moment you are going to imagine walking through one of those door ways and your unconscious will then present you with a solution or new creative insights.
So as you look at those doors notice which one you are drawn to. Would you prefer to solve the problem in a, 'usual way', 'another person's way' or a 'wacky way!'
And then just allow your unconscious to create an experience behind that door that will give rise to what is known as a 'ah ah' eureka moment when you walk through to the other side.
When you feel ready imagine opening the door and walking through, becoming aware of what you are presented with. What do you see, hear, smell and feel? And as you look around what is it that you haven't noticed yet?
You may or may not know at the conscious level how this experience is going to help you, but you can if you wish ask yourself, 'how does this experience help me?' or 'what new ideas, insights and perspectives does this give me?'
Whenever we are stuck it's as if our mind is locked into a groove. We can snap out of it and gain creative solutions by accessing the unconscious regions of our mind.
There are many techniques and methods that enable us to achieve this goal such as the 'three magic doors.'
The Wall
What is it that you'd like some help with?
Imagine a big wall in front of you.
Just allow your unconscious or the creative problem solving parts of your mind to manifest some useful insights on the other side of the wall.
When you feel ready imagine jumping up and looking over the wall. You may have to jump up a few times to gather all the new information!
Playing around with these kinds of rapid self hypnosis techniques will cause you to learn to access more areas of your mind. And as you continue to do so you will find yourself becoming more capable of solving problems creatively.

"10 Rules For Life" by Dr. Pat Farrell

Taking back your life is a matter of deciding that you're in the driver's seat, not someone else. It doesn't matter if the economy's bad, you can't go on a super special vacation this year or you are feeling lonely, everything has a positive side. Here are my 'rules' for turning things around for yourself, rather than waiting for something or someone to do it for you.

Life 'Rules'

Challenge yourself to use every 'bad' thing in your life as a new beginning.

Find the 'good' in everything that you can.

Don't expect the good things to be readily apparent. It may take a few days, weeks or even months before you finally see them.

Allow yourself to realize your true power. This doesn't mean pushing people around, but looking for your hidden skills.

Talk to yourself. Talking to yourself is a very powerful tool to use and it can help you increase your motivation and your ability to stick to a task.

Stop expecting others to solve your problems. Even if you lost your job, it's an opportunity to look in a new direction, to acquire a new skill and to blaze a more pleasurable path in life.

Throw out that 'yes, but' expression from your life. It's just a way of keeping yourself stuck in the mud.

Take a good hard look at what you'd really like in life and sit down and begin making a list that outlines the steps you need to take. Not everyone needs to go to college to be happy. Find out where your happiness lies, if you don't want to go back to school. Abraham Lincoln did just fine with his self-learning plan.

Beware of the negative people in your life. Pointing out the problems is fine, but some people only see doom and gloom and they can't be very helpful, unless you find that helpful.

Remember that every road has unexpected turns and that any plan must be one that allows for some give and take. If there's one word for your plan to take back your life, let it be 'flexible' and go from there.

"How to Create Your "Magic List"By Chyrene Pendleton

First, I would like to share with you a tool I've used successfully,
beginning early in my life. I know that many others have used this tool
successfully and authors have written about it, especially in recent
years. It's actually very simple and very powerful. I used to call this
simply my "List" but now, I call it the "Magic List", inspired by one of
my non-metaphysical students several years ago. With this Magic List,
you are using the power of the written and the spoken word that is
released to the Universe to manifest in your reality.
All it requires are these steps:
1. Take a piece of paper (any kind of writing paper - from a notebook,
or your favorite color of paper, etc), and write a numeric list of all
of your desires. They can be short-term of long-term desires. State your
desires as clearly as possible.
2. After you have written down your desires, at the bottom of the page,
write something to this effect: "May all of these desires, or better,
manifest for the Highest good of all." This releases any need to
manifest your desires in a particular way. It opens it up to the
Universe to bring you what you want in the best and Highest way
possible, and at the right time.
3. Keep your Magic List with you at all times, in your wallet, purse,
etc.
4. Read your list (aloud if possible) just before going to sleep, first
thing upon awakening and before going into meditation. Do this every
day, and you will soon see profound results.
5. As your desires manifest, cross them off your checklist. Soon, you
will want to rewrite it, creating a new Magic List (the old one
eventually can look pretty unreadable with all of those lines crossing
things off!) on a fresh piece of paper. If some of the old desires
haven't yet manifested, you can add them, too. Personally, I prefer to
do this on the new and full moons, taking advantage of their powerful
manifesting energies.
Several years ago, I studied Native American spirituality from a Lakota
medicine woman and learned the ritual of clearly stating my written
desires to the Universe on the new and full moons and then burning them,
releasing them to the Universe. You'll want to keep your Magic List as a
separate list, however, as you'll be using it
every day.
6. Finally, do not show your list or talk about it to others. Keep it to
yourself. This is a way of keeping your energy totally and directly
focused on what you want. Talking about it and sharing it with people
only disperses your energy and it may take longer for those desires to
manifest.
The Magic List really, truly works. Anyone can do it. The
non-metaphysical student (also my co-worker at the time) I mentioned
earlier was in one of my prosperity workshops and, as I described what I
originally called my "List", he became very pale. After the class, he
told me that he had started to write a list just like the one I
described when he was a little boy. He said he called it his "Magic
List" and never told a soul, not even his brother. He was so amazed to
hear me speaking about his secret!
And he just had to show me his list, even though I protested. I'm glad
that he did in this particular case, because his list was very unusual
and it demonstrated how miraculous this tool really is.
This man, then in his fifties, had several hobbies, most centered around
finding and collecting unusual, rare, old objects and bottles - some
valuable. The items on his list were things most people have never heard
of or seen before. His list was well worn, with several items crossed
off. He said he kept it in his wallet, looking at his list a couple of
times each day. He described to me how each item came to him, just like
magic.
Sometimes, it meant suddenly driving down a street for no apparent
reason, just to discover that there was a garage sale going on, and then
seeing one or several of his desires on the list for sale at the perfect
price for him. He would continuously find himself in the right place at
the right time. One of the items on his list manifested about three
weeks after he had showed his list to me.
It was a classic car (I forget the model) in the exact color and year he
had specified, and in mint condition. An elderly woman had kept it in
her garage all these years and decided to get rid of it. On his way to
work one day, he happened to turn onto her street. He saw the 'For Sale'
sign, and the price was right. Later, he drove the car to work to show
me.
I wanted to share this experience with you to emphasize how the Magic
List always works, even for those not familiar with metaphysics.

I had made this Magic list most of my wishes are fulfilled.
Thanks to the the GOD Almighty as well as the person who guided us.

Fun Money and Income Opportunity!

This looks like it might be a lot of fun. In the past I have seen similar schemes but rarely did any of them live up to promise. However, this one is subtly different. It is so simple I am astounded nobody thought of it before. In this case the fifth person, who will be you, is rewarded. Not only does this let you know how your invitees are doing, it also means your very small investment is quickly recovered and pays you until you get 20 positive responses which is probably sufficient to give the scheme the momentum it needs to gather the numbers to reward you more richly at the end. Take a look and above all enjoy the game

Money!Money!Money!
Want to make some and have a bit of fun on the way?

$10 Dollars!...That's all it cost!

Heal Allergies with a Simple Acupressure Technique
TAT is a swift and powerful means of affecting Behavioral Change by changing negative emotions, past trauma, limiting beliefs and physical symptoms quickly, painlessly and very effectively. It frequently yields results where everything else has failed. You owe it to yourself to take a close look at it! It is one of the most effective Behavioral Change therapies out there!

California Acupuncturist Tapas Fleming developed TAT or Tapas Acupressure technique. The technique based on Chinese Medicine involves holding certain acupuncture points whilst focussing on the problem requiring treatment. It came about a few years ago when the focus of Tapas’s practice was the treatment of allergies. At the time she was using a treatment devised by Dr.Devi Nambudripad called NAET. This required the patient to avoid the allergen for a period of 24 hours after treatment. In many cases this was fine but in instances of severe allergy it could also mean the person was restricted to a bread and water-eating programme for a full day after treatment. This could be very stressful particularly in the case of children. One afternoon during a lull in patient workload she had an insight to use Urinary Bladder 1 to solve her dilemma. UB 1 or “Eyes Bright” is an acupuncture point located on the edge of the inner eye, adjacent to the nose. She found that if she used this point along with the third eye and the occipital ridge at the back of the head, her patients could be desensitised to their allergy and could then return to a normal diet as soon as they got home. This overcame the whole stressful problem of 24 hours avoidance. Moreover, she discovered it wasn’t necessary to needle the points, merely holding them whilst thinking of the reactive substance was sufficient to bring about the required change.

Then she stumbled upon something else that was to take the TAT protocol outside the range of allergy treatment and into a much wider field of application. Tapas was working with a patient who had a sensitivity to salt. During the treatment it turned out that she had been sexually abused as a child. Each time the abuse occurred, it took place in a bar. After the perpetrator had finished he gave the little girl a packet of potato chips. Potato chips or crisps are very salty. When Tapas used her new technique she found not only did the allergy disappear but also the causative trauma of abuse. Now she realised TAT was a very good method for healing traumas and many other things as well.

The treatment requires the client to hold the points with both hands in what is called the Tapas pose. The practitioner asks the person to put her mind on the problem and maintain the pose for approximately one minute. This is repeated through seven steps. The technique sounds incredibly easy but the affects are profound. Tapas tells us “thoughts are real, with real energy!” “If these thoughts are suppressed they create negative energy patterns which impact life and health”. In Chinese Medicine, the home of acupuncture, energy blocks are the root cause of disease. Think of the strictures as dams in a river. Above the dam lies a large body of water and below a mere trickle or stream. Acupuncture works because you place a tiny electrical charge by way of a metal needle, either below or above the dam and this like an explosive shifts the blockage and allows energy to flow freely, and thus balance is restored!

Traumas and negative emotions are a bit like this dam. On one side is you and on the other the negative experience. The result is a block. Thanks to TAT we can free the obstruction by engaging it through the technique. This gives us an opportunity to see over the dam, if you like! The new perspective allows you to view the event in a different light and this will always change it in some way. Holding the TAT pose somehow integrates the discomfort of the past event and brings about peace and harmony. In the Tao this is balance and from a place of balance we have healing and ultimate wellness.

Can Psychotherapy Really Help?

Get Paid to Submit Article like "Can Psychotherapy Really Help"

Therapy in this case means behaviour change or at least behaviour modification, which can be achieved in a number of ways. Psychotherapy all started with Freudian psychoanalysis, but protracted therapy sessions with an analysis slowly grew less popular as people looked for quicker ways to solve their problems.

More recently CBT or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which has evolved from behaviour Modification Therapy has become increasingly more popular. It is now in common usage as a treatment option and is widely accepted as an empirically based and cost effective treatment alternative by the medical establishment. Thus it is used to address many disorders and psychological problems. If for instance somebody is suffering from an anxiety state such as the fear of flying the person will set up a number of protective behaviours that will guard them from the belief that flying is inherently dangerous. Overall they will probably avoid flying in an aeroplane at all. If forced some people will travel by air but in great discomfort and under a lot of stress. In some cases anti-anxiety drugs may alleviate this. However, if the individual avoids flying altogether they will find that the behaviour inhibits them in many avenues of life. For instance it will be difficult to travel on overseas holidays which might result in family pressures. More likely the real crunch will come when the person is required to travel abroad for work reasons. A refusal or inability to fly could have huge repercussions on work prospects and could lead to the loss of a job. However, we all have feelings about flying which can range on one hand to an exhilarating adventure and to the other to something that is dreaded, I think all will agree it would be nice to have a choice in the matter. CBT is able to help in situations like this by getting the subject to examine the beliefs that came into being that designated flying as something dangerous. Frequently the cause events go back to childhood. However, CBT is unable to deal with a problem like fear of flying quickly. It will take several months to come to a place where the subject is able to take a plane and travel to a destination with acceptably reduced stress levels. Unfortunately people in need of this treatment to offset the fear of flying usually do not have the luxury of this elongated time frame. Very often business executives are notified of overseas business trips just a few short weeks before departure date. Moreover treatment requires severall therapy sessions and this can work out costly. However, it must be said that treatment techniques like CBT are considerably better than those that preceded them, so it seems we are on a gradually improving learning curve.

However, when we go outside the empirically proven techniques that fit within the belief structures of the scientific principals favoured by the medical profession we do come to therapies that are quick and effective, Hypnosis or more precisely hypnotherapy has gained favour over the years because it can be effective and it can be quick. Some people are afraid because there are so many misconceptions about hypnosis. Many people think that a cloaked Svengali figure will take possession of their minds whilst waving a pocket watch in front of their eyes. This is nonsensical but stereotyped images like this get in the way of the true effectiveness of hypnosis.

More recently the Meridian Energy Therapies have gained some popularity. The best known of these therapies is EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. There is no hypnosis involved merely the tapping of the end points of the acupuncture meridians in a form of acupressure. EFT has had some amazing results from ridding people of life long phobias in a matter of minutes to curing Dengue Fever! It can be effective and is worth checking out because psychotherapy in the expert hands of a capable practitioner can result in truly amazing long-term benefits.

EFT...Always at Your Finger Tips

American Clinical Psychologist Roger Callahan stumbled across a remarkable technique that he called “Thought Field Therapy” whilst he was working with a client named, Mary. Mary had been coming to see him for approximately 18 months for treatment for an extreme water phobia. Dr. Callahan was using a desensitising technique with his patient, whereby he would take her out to his house and they would work beside the swimming pool. Gradually over this period Mary had been able to sit, albeit with discomfort closer and closer to the pool. On this particular occasion she complained that she was suffering from a stomach- ache. Dr Callahan had recently been studying kinesiology with Australian psychiatrist John Diamond. Kinesiolgy had been developed by Detroit chiropractor George Goodheart to address the problem of why so many of his adjustments would not hold. Eager to help his patient Dr. Callahan tapped Mary on the bone under the eye. This point is known as “Stomach 1” in acupuncture, as it is the first point on the stomach meridian. The result was not at all what the doctor was expecting. Mary leapt to her feet and began to make towards the pool much to Callahan’s alarm. As she moved she exclaimed, “it’s gone, it’s gone!” By tapping Mary under the eye he had removed her life long fear of water in a matter of literal seconds. Mary’s cure was permanent and Roger Callahan went on to develop TFT.

TFT was a remarkable therapeutic tool that could remove fears and phobias in minutes. It depended on a series of formulae that required the tapping on the end points of specific acupuncture meridians. In the late 1980s a lifecoach, successful financial services consultant and ex-Stanford engineering graduate Gary Craig, started TFT training. He felt the method was cumbersome and could be simplified. Thus with Roger Callahan’s support he went ahead and developed EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. In this simpler form the client puts his/her attention on the problem, clears any reversals by tapping on the outside of the palm whilst repeating the problem out loud and then follows up by tapping on the end points of 8 specific Meridians or Energy Channels. It really is as simple as that! And the results are far above average expectations.
It seems the“Meridians" are influenced by the minute electrical energy of our thoughts…recent research indicates that when meridians via (Acupuncture) points are stimulated there is corresponding activation of a specific region of the brain. Tapping shifts the energy sent out by the brain and this regulates the nervous system. Having said that there is little wonder that EFT is so successful in treating a whole host of problems, is there? Gary Craig urges people to try it on everything. It might not always work but on the other hand what have you got to lose?
