Heal Allergies with a Simple Acupressure Technique
TAT is a swift and powerful means of affecting Behavioral Change by changing negative emotions, past trauma, limiting beliefs and physical symptoms quickly, painlessly and very effectively. It frequently yields results where everything else has failed. You owe it to yourself to take a close look at it! It is one of the most effective Behavioral Change therapies out there!

California Acupuncturist Tapas Fleming developed TAT or Tapas Acupressure technique. The technique based on Chinese Medicine involves holding certain acupuncture points whilst focussing on the problem requiring treatment. It came about a few years ago when the focus of Tapas’s practice was the treatment of allergies. At the time she was using a treatment devised by Dr.Devi Nambudripad called NAET. This required the patient to avoid the allergen for a period of 24 hours after treatment. In many cases this was fine but in instances of severe allergy it could also mean the person was restricted to a bread and water-eating programme for a full day after treatment. This could be very stressful particularly in the case of children. One afternoon during a lull in patient workload she had an insight to use Urinary Bladder 1 to solve her dilemma. UB 1 or “Eyes Bright” is an acupuncture point located on the edge of the inner eye, adjacent to the nose. She found that if she used this point along with the third eye and the occipital ridge at the back of the head, her patients could be desensitised to their allergy and could then return to a normal diet as soon as they got home. This overcame the whole stressful problem of 24 hours avoidance. Moreover, she discovered it wasn’t necessary to needle the points, merely holding them whilst thinking of the reactive substance was sufficient to bring about the required change.

Then she stumbled upon something else that was to take the TAT protocol outside the range of allergy treatment and into a much wider field of application. Tapas was working with a patient who had a sensitivity to salt. During the treatment it turned out that she had been sexually abused as a child. Each time the abuse occurred, it took place in a bar. After the perpetrator had finished he gave the little girl a packet of potato chips. Potato chips or crisps are very salty. When Tapas used her new technique she found not only did the allergy disappear but also the causative trauma of abuse. Now she realised TAT was a very good method for healing traumas and many other things as well.

The treatment requires the client to hold the points with both hands in what is called the Tapas pose. The practitioner asks the person to put her mind on the problem and maintain the pose for approximately one minute. This is repeated through seven steps. The technique sounds incredibly easy but the affects are profound. Tapas tells us “thoughts are real, with real energy!” “If these thoughts are suppressed they create negative energy patterns which impact life and health”. In Chinese Medicine, the home of acupuncture, energy blocks are the root cause of disease. Think of the strictures as dams in a river. Above the dam lies a large body of water and below a mere trickle or stream. Acupuncture works because you place a tiny electrical charge by way of a metal needle, either below or above the dam and this like an explosive shifts the blockage and allows energy to flow freely, and thus balance is restored!

Traumas and negative emotions are a bit like this dam. On one side is you and on the other the negative experience. The result is a block. Thanks to TAT we can free the obstruction by engaging it through the technique. This gives us an opportunity to see over the dam, if you like! The new perspective allows you to view the event in a different light and this will always change it in some way. Holding the TAT pose somehow integrates the discomfort of the past event and brings about peace and harmony. In the Tao this is balance and from a place of balance we have healing and ultimate wellness.

Can Psychotherapy Really Help?

Therapy in this case means behaviour change or at least behaviour modification, which can be achieved in a number of ways. Psychotherapy all started with Freudian psychoanalysis, but protracted therapy sessions with an analysis slowly grew less popular as people looked for quicker ways to solve their problems.

More recently CBT or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which has evolved from behaviour Modification Therapy has become increasingly more popular. It is now in common usage as a treatment option and is widely accepted as an empirically based and cost effective treatment alternative by the medical establishment. Thus it is used to address many disorders and psychological problems. If for instance somebody is suffering from an anxiety state such as the fear of flying the person will set up a number of protective behaviours that will guard them from the belief that flying is inherently dangerous. Overall they will probably avoid flying in an aeroplane at all. If forced some people will travel by air but in great discomfort and under a lot of stress. In some cases anti-anxiety drugs may alleviate this. However, if the individual avoids flying altogether they will find that the behaviour inhibits them in many avenues of life. For instance it will be difficult to travel on overseas holidays which might result in family pressures. More likely the real crunch will come when the person is required to travel abroad for work reasons. A refusal or inability to fly could have huge repercussions on work prospects and could lead to the loss of a job. However, we all have feelings about flying which can range on one hand to an exhilarating adventure and to the other to something that is dreaded, I think all will agree it would be nice to have a choice in the matter. CBT is able to help in situations like this by getting the subject to examine the beliefs that came into being that designated flying as something dangerous. Frequently the cause events go back to childhood. However, CBT is unable to deal with a problem like fear of flying quickly. It will take several months to come to a place where the subject is able to take a plane and travel to a destination with acceptably reduced stress levels. Unfortunately people in need of this treatment to offset the fear of flying usually do not have the luxury of this elongated time frame. Very often business executives are notified of overseas business trips just a few short weeks before departure date. Moreover treatment requires severall therapy sessions and this can work out costly. However, it must be said that treatment techniques like CBT are considerably better than those that preceded them, so it seems we are on a gradually improving learning curve.

However, when we go outside the empirically proven techniques that fit within the belief structures of the scientific principals favoured by the medical profession we do come to therapies that are quick and effective, Hypnosis or more precisely hypnotherapy has gained favour over the years because it can be effective and it can be quick. Some people are afraid because there are so many misconceptions about hypnosis. Many people think that a cloaked Svengali figure will take possession of their minds whilst waving a pocket watch in front of their eyes. This is nonsensical but stereotyped images like this get in the way of the true effectiveness of hypnosis.

More recently the Meridian Energy Therapies have gained some popularity. The best known of these therapies is EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. There is no hypnosis involved merely the tapping of the end points of the acupuncture meridians in a form of acupressure. EFT has had some amazing results from ridding people of life long phobias in a matter of minutes to curing Dengue Fever! It can be effective and is worth checking out because psychotherapy in the expert hands of a capable practitioner can result in truly amazing long-term benefits.

EFT...Always at Your Finger Tips

American Clinical Psychologist Roger Callahan stumbled across a remarkable technique that he called “Thought Field Therapy” whilst he was working with a client named, Mary. Mary had been coming to see him for approximately 18 months for treatment for an extreme water phobia. Dr. Callahan was using a desensitising technique with his patient, whereby he would take her out to his house and they would work beside the swimming pool. Gradually over this period Mary had been able to sit, albeit with discomfort closer and closer to the pool. On this particular occasion she complained that she was suffering from a stomach- ache. Dr Callahan had recently been studying kinesiology with Australian psychiatrist John Diamond. Kinesiolgy had been developed by Detroit chiropractor George Goodheart to address the problem of why so many of his adjustments would not hold. Eager to help his patient Dr. Callahan tapped Mary on the bone under the eye. This point is known as “Stomach 1” in acupuncture, as it is the first point on the stomach meridian. The result was not at all what the doctor was expecting. Mary leapt to her feet and began to make towards the pool much to Callahan’s alarm. As she moved she exclaimed, “it’s gone, it’s gone!” By tapping Mary under the eye he had removed her life long fear of water in a matter of literal seconds. Mary’s cure was permanent and Roger Callahan went on to develop TFT.

TFT was a remarkable therapeutic tool that could remove fears and phobias in minutes. It depended on a series of formulae that required the tapping on the end points of specific acupuncture meridians. In the late 1980s a lifecoach, successful financial services consultant and ex-Stanford engineering graduate Gary Craig, started TFT training. He felt the method was cumbersome and could be simplified. Thus with Roger Callahan’s support he went ahead and developed EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. In this simpler form the client puts his/her attention on the problem, clears any reversals by tapping on the outside of the palm whilst repeating the problem out loud and then follows up by tapping on the end points of 8 specific Meridians or Energy Channels. It really is as simple as that! And the results are far above average expectations.
It seems the“Meridians" are influenced by the minute electrical energy of our thoughts…recent research indicates that when meridians via (Acupuncture) points are stimulated there is corresponding activation of a specific region of the brain. Tapping shifts the energy sent out by the brain and this regulates the nervous system. Having said that there is little wonder that EFT is so successful in treating a whole host of problems, is there? Gary Craig urges people to try it on everything. It might not always work but on the other hand what have you got to lose?

EFT Heals a Phobia in Minutes

EFT has its origins in traditional Chinese acupuncture, developed over 5,000 years ago. With the passage of time, Eastern Medical teachings have evolved and fused with Western notions on Alternative Health Care to produce a variety of related practices loosely termed Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology.

These techniques are remarkably simple and the basics can be mastered during a week-end workshop. That’s not to say that attending a week-end workshop is sufficient training to make everyone an instant expert. Even with an elementary grasp like this it is perfectly possible to help somebody overcome let’s say a fear of dogs. It’s worth checking out isn’t it?

She had a dread of dogs, and would quake with fears when walking down the street in case she met one! Yet after a few minutes therapy work with a spanking new technique, called “E.F.T.” or “Emotional Freedom Technique she felt this fear of hers gently melt away. It is true to say that E.F.T. had not completely removed her “dog phobia”, but it had reduced it considerably. Now it rested at an appropriately reasonable level. After all it is wise to be wary of dogs that you don’t know, particularly if they are big because given the right provocation they can hurt you!

Therapists all over the world use this new branch of complementary psychology to help their clients overcome anxieties and unwanted behaviours and to put traumatic experience safely behind them.

From this field that originated in the ancient techniques of Chinese Medicine emerged “Thought Field Therapy”, the brainchild of American Clinical psychologist, Dr. Roger Callahan. TFT relies on a series of algorithms that involve tapping on the end points of certain acupuncture meridians whilst focusing thought on the problem to be resolved. This can be a complex process and a student of Dr. Callahan’s, Gary Craig set out to develop a simpler method. Thus E.F.T. was born.

EFT Offers Speedy and Long Lasting Help

EFT. (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a “radical new healing accessory” according to a UK based practitioner. Who goes on to quote EFT founder Gary Craig; “the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” This therapy technique depends on tapping the end points of the Energy Meridians, a system first discovered by Chinese Medicine more than 5,000 years ago! Whilst tapping the client is encouraged to mentally tune into the causative unpleasant or painful event. If we look at Gary Craig’s website, we can see an impressive body of evidence to support the effectiveness of this type of therapy.

In 1994 Craig and an associate were invited to work in a Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Southern California. As a result of this visit the treatments and successes were filmed.

“Rich” had served as a warrant officer in Cambodia. He had been released from the military in 1975 and had undergone treatment for his PostTraumatic Stress Disorder since 1978. His symptoms included a severe height phobia which had been brought about largely by the 50 parachute jumps he had made whilst on wartime duty. As a result he was afraid to use lifts and would often feel uncomfortable on reaching the second floor of the local shopping centre. Remarkably his phobia disappeared after one fifteen-minute tapping session with Gary Craig. Craig made a video recording of this work with the 'Vets'. The film shows “Rich” standing on top of the Administration building and waving over the fire escape to his friends below without feeling a hint of his old fear. A truly remarkable outcome which had not been matched by his sixteen years of conventional treatment. Moreover, a little bit more work reduced his intrusive war time memories of entering villages literally littered with bodies to negligible proportions and his previous insomnia cleared up too!
The interesting element here was, “Rich” treated himself. Yes, he was taught how to use “EFT” and despite his scepticism tapped on his fearsome memories until they all disappeared. What’s more, Gary Craig reassured the audience that such remarkable cures were usually permanent. In “Rich’s” case they checked back two months later and all was still well. He knew that if anything should resurface he now had in his possession “an awesome tool” which he could use to heal himself without recourse to any intrusive medication. EFT is easy to use and easy to learn. Anyone can get a result with it after a short course of instruction!

The purpose of this website

The purpose of this website is to share an idea with you. It is a creative notion that involves writing short articles. This is something you can do from anywhere in the world. It is relatively easy and the concept serves a function. You will see that I have posted examples of the sort of short article I am talking about in further postings on this blog site.

Have you ever heard of SEO? That stands for “Search Engine Optimisation”. You write an article that contains a link to your website and then submit to one of many article directories like thearticlesense.com These directories publish your articles on the Internet and these get picked up by the search engines, which in turn push your website ratings into more prominent locations in prime sites like “Google”. I don’t know about you, but whenever I want to know about anything I Google it and use the information provided to answer my question. It is perfectly possible to have one of your articles listed there answering the question and of course making your own website more and more prominent. Moreover, the directories provide a free media pool that enables other publications and media services to use your articles, which in turn increases your exposure
